Global Money Week 2024: Protect your money, secure your future

Educational activity inspired by the Museum's temporary exhibition "Inflation" in combination with Global Money Week’s permanent motto ("Learn - Save - Earn") and its special theme for 2024 ("Protect your money, secure your future").

Global Money Week is an annual international campaign to raise awareness among the new generation on issues related to money, through the organisation of national and local events and activities that encourage the participation of children and young people in learning aimed at financial education. Celebrated since 2012 it is organised every March by the international Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), while National Coordinator of the events held in our country is once again the Bank of Greece. This year's theme, "Protect your money, secure your future", focuses on the safe management of our money and highlights the importance of adopting a responsible and informed approach through which, being aware of potential risks in the financial sector, we can protect our income.

In our Museum, a new educational programme titled "Pay attention... or the price!", specially designed on the occasion of the celebration of GMW 2024, utilises experiential, maieutic and other recreational learning methods that activate creative thinking towards better choices and more appropriate handling regarding the protection of our income, savings and investments, taking into account, among other things, inflationary trends, as its learning objectives include an overview of the concepts of 'money', 'purchasing power' and 'price stability', understanding the phenomenon of inflation and its effect (both on the purchasing power of money and on the prices of goods and services), while also highlighting the institutional role of Central Banks in ensuring price stability.
