Pay attention, or the price!
Friday, 1 November 2024
In a market economy, the prices of goods and services can always change. And because some may remain stable while others may increase or decrease (sometimes slowly and sometimes more sharply), “inflation”, a basic economic aggregate that allows us to monitor these price fluctuations, has a very significant impact on the daily lives of all of us.
The original educational program "Pay attention, or the price!", currently being presented at our Museum as an additional feature to the periodic exhibition “Personal Finance”, is specially designed for secondary school students, but will certainly be of interest to all older "children" (of any age) as well, as it examines, analyses and interprets this particular economic phenomenon, its forms and its influential mechanism, in a way that activates the creative thinking of each visitor towards better choices and more appropriate management actions regarding the protection of his/her income, savings and investments, taking into account, among other things, inflationary trends.
Utilising maieutic and experiential creative methods based on fun material-aesthetic activities and role-playing games, over the course of approximately one (1) hour, it focuses on an overview of the concepts of "money", "purchasing power" and "price stability", facilitating the understanding of the phenomenon of inflation (and/or deflation) and its effect on both the purchasing power of money and the prices of goods and services, while at the same time explaining and highlighting the institutional role of Central Banks in ensuring price stability and therefore their key contribution to addressing the phenomenon.
So, make your reservation and come to play, learning to ...pay attention, or the price!
