Global Money Week 2026: Smart Money Talks
From: Tuesday 17 March 2026 - To: Friday 20 March 2026
All of us start making financial decisions quite early on – often before we even realise it! From managing our first earnings and learning the importance of saving, to understanding the concept of investment and the role of economic growth in society, we are all called upon to familiarise ourselves with concepts that are closely intertwined and affect our daily financial lives.
With this in mind, on 17-20 March 2026 a brand new educational programme of our Museum, designed as part of the special theme Smart Money Talks (which is the focus of Global Money Week in 2026) and based on the content of our current temporary exhibition "Προσωπικά Οικονομικά – Exhibitions – Bank of Greece | Museum" rel="nofollow">Personal Finance", comes to highlight, in an experiential and particularly entertaining way as always, the circular relationship between these three fundamental components of our financial well-being!
This museum-education activity is titled "Smart Money Talks: Ask, Learn, Prosper" and draws its content from the upward-spiralling thematic cycle:
Income → Savings → Investment → Economic Growth → New Income → New Savings → and so on...
By understanding this "cycle," participants explore how individual financial choices are linked to overall economic activity and how personal money management can influence – directly or indirectly – the wider social and economic environment.
During their visit, groups will tour the exhibition, will learn more (through questions, examples and discussion) about some basic economic concepts, will be invited to compose their own short narrative (turning abstract concepts into experiential learning), and thus naturally reflect on the relationship between individual responsibility and collective benefit.
The programme is mainly aimed at secondary school students, as well as organised groups of people interested in approaching financial education in a modern and participatory way.
In the course of Global Money Week (GMW), which has been celebrated every March for over 10 years under the auspices of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development | OECD rel="nofollow">OECD) with the key message "Learn - Save - Earn", various events and activities are organised focusing on a specific theme, but always with a common goal: to strengthen the financial education of young people!
This year's participation of our Museum in GMW 2026 aims to strengthen not only knowledge but also critical thinking about money, reminding us that financial choices are not isolated acts, but part of a broader, ongoing cycle that affects us all.
