International Museum Day: The Power of Museums
Wednesday, May 18, 2022
The Museum of the Bank of Greece actively participates in the celebration of the International Museum Day 2022: The power of Museums. According to ICOM, this year's anniversary is dedicated to the emergence of museums "as institutions of cultural exchange aimed at enhancing education and promoting mutual understanding, peace and cooperation between peoples".
Through specifically planned for the day guided tours in the interactive temporary exhibition "Economy and Climate: Handle with care" and the specially designed educational / entertainment programme "Green Escape", the Museum hopes to endow its visitors with knowledge and confidence in the changes needed to deal with climate change.
The exhibition "Economy and Climate: Handle with care" describes the phenomenon of climate change and analyses its economic impact and the ways selected to address it. The action aims to inform and actively involve the public - and especially the younger generation - in the urgent commitment and mobilisation needed to tackle the phenomenon on a global scale.
The specially designed educational / entertainment programme "Green Escape" incorporates escape room practices that are very popular among teenagers to inform about the economic effects of climate change and emphasise that humanity’s path towards a more sustainable and prosperous future passes through green investment.
