As in our day and age museums all over the world progressively redefine their social and educational role, the democratisation of knowledge and the defence of all persons' right to have access to culture take on a special significance when those that take centre stage are people with disabilities, who often face a peculiar type of exclusion from cultural activities.
On the occasion of the celebrations of World Sight Day and World White Cane Day 2022 (October 13 and 15 respectively), the Museum of the BoG, supported by the Association of Visually Impaired People of Cyclades "Arogi", opens its doors wide to all individuals facing visual challenges, by organising special guided tours of audio description in its Temporary Exhibition "Economy and Climate: Handle with care".
The exhibition describes the phenomenon of climate change and analyses its economic impact, its importance for Central Banks, and the means and ways available to tackle it. Focusing mainly on our country, it makes best use of key contributions by specialised economists and experts of the BoG, with a view to enhancing the awareness and active participation of the public – and especially of the new generation – in the urgent commitment and mobilisation required to deal with the phenomenon on a global scale.
