An original book on climate change

The Museum of the Bank of Greece hosted the official presentation of the Greek version of the illustrated book Small Gases, Big Effect. This is Climate Change to the public and invited journalists. The event was attended by 2nd-grade Lyceum students of the Leonteios School in Athens who had the opportunity to talk with Dr. Anastasia Poupkou, Senior Researcher at the Atmospheric Physics and Climatology Research Center of the Academy of Athens, and Ms. Theodora Antonakaki, Director of the Climate Change and Sustainability Center of the Bank of Greece.

The book is an international bestseller that analyses key concepts related to climate change and the prospects for action to deal with it, in a pleasant, uncomplicated and understandable way. It was published in Greek by the Center for Culture, Research and Documentation of the Bank of Greece on the occasion of the current temporary exhibition Economy and climate: Handle with care of the Museum of the Bank, and in continuation of the graphic novel The big transformation: Climate – Can we beat the heat?

Endorsed by more than 100 scientists, it has been written by two German students, David Nelles and Christian Serrer, who ... "unable to find a book that explained climate change in a simple and enjoyable way, decided to write it themselves"...! In its 132 pages, this (literally!) small book describes the Earth's climate, the possible causes of climate change, the "cryosphere", the oceans, extreme weather and climate events, ecosystems, but also humanity in all of these. Its texts are accompanied by vivid illustrations, schematics, easy-to-understand diagrams and even photographs, elements that best document all the information provided.
