Inflation
Thursday, 12 October 2023 - Monday, 12 August 2024
Inflation, a key economic variable that largely affects the lives of all of us, is the subject of the new temporary exhibition currently hosted at our Museum.
Specifically, from Thursday, October 12, 2023, with the help of an interactive electromechanical exhibit that looks like a giant spirit level - in which a metal ball ("inflation") rises or falls in response to the upward or downward movement of interest rates as well as to unexpected "economic shocks" - each visitor, assuming the role of a central banker, will have the opportunity to try and stabilise the metal ball at 2%, and thus to better understand the relationship between inflation and the central bank interest rate, but also to answer questions such as what is inflation, why prices rise or how and why interest rates fluctuate.
The exhibition is accompanied by a microsite with information, quizzes and the digital game "Inflation in simple economics", an adaptation of the board game Codename with "inflationary" data.
Looking forward to welcoming you, either as individual visitors or as group participants in a programmed guided tour.
