The mission

The mission of the Museum of the Bank of Greece is to present and highlight the role of the Bank in the economic, social and cultural growth of the country. In order to fulfil this mission, the Museum sets as goals:

• the implementation of educational work and activities for the promotion of economic literacy and the general financial education of the broader public;
• the establishment, preservation and utilisation of collections (of coins, banknotes, works of art, rare and/or special editions, historical items of coin / banknote production and industrial design tools / machines, as well as other related objects of special interest), for the preservation of cultural heritage, and
• the development and facilitation of scientific research in the fields of economic and monetary history of modern Greece
